ABOUT LETTERPRESS
Letterpress is a beautiful printing method dating back to the 14th century. This labor-intensive process uses a polymer or magnesium die for each color in the design. These plates are then pushed into the paper by a letterpress, creating a debossed tactile effect. A letterpressed design feels substantial and despite its ancient roots can still have a very modern feel depending on the design. The paper stock we use on most letterpressed designs is tree-free (100% cotton). Made from cotton linters, a byproduct of the textile industry, the EPA has recognized this paper as being a recovered fiber. These fibers, unsized and uncalendered, are created specifically for the letterpress process to produce the most exquisite results. Thick, fluffy, soft to the touch, this paper and process has a distinct feel of something special. We also print on bamboo stock. Not only is it the fastest growing plant on earth but it is also letterpress-friendly.
